TUESDAY ART DAY -The color GREEN

Thanks for joining me again as we explore more of the Color Wheel.  Today we are highlighting GREEN.  Traditionally, it associated with money, finances, banking and Wall Street....but we know it means so much more to our psyche then that!

It is the dominant color in nature & is understood to be the most restful and relaxing of all colors. Since the spring season is here & all of the plants are emerging with fresh growth and life after the cold winter months-Green symbolizes life, renewal, harmony, nature, freshness, and our environment.  The color green affects us both physically and mentally in several different ways. It is soothing, relaxing, and youthful. This is a color that helps to alleviate anxiety, depression, and nervousness. It can also help to enhance vision, stability and endurance. In the light spectrum visible to the human eye, Green takes up more space then any other color which is why it is the easiest color for the human eye to view.

I love the concept that Green is a natural choice in interior design as an ideal background or backdrop because we as humans are so used to seeing it everywhere. Depending upon which colors are used in combination with the color green, it has both a warming and a cooling effect.

The color green is known to have healing powers. Green gemstones are believed to help create balance, promote change or growth, increase feelings of hopefulness and optimism, and break the emotional demands of others. How's that for geology!

Additional words that represent different shades, tints, and values of the color green: emerald, sea green, sea foam, olive, grass green, apple, mint, forest, lime, spring green, leaf green, aquamarine, chartreuse, fir, kelly green, pine, moss, jade, sage, yellow-green, sap, viridian.
